Our Background

The ILLIANA 697 PATRIOT Baseball organization was established to provide an opportunity for boys to receive a heightened level of baseball instruction. Our organization promotes teamwork, fundamentals, sportsmanship, instruction, and an overall passion for the game of baseball necessary to increase player skill development in a competitive environment while representing the honor and values of American Legion Post 697.

We are excited to introduce a brand-new and unique baseball opportunity for the upcoming 2026 summer season: the Illiana 697 Patriots, an American Legion Baseball program proudly hosted by Edward Schultz American Legion Post 697 in Lansing, Illinois.

American Legion Baseball is one of the most respected amateur baseball programs in the country. Founded in 1924, the league now includes more than 3,000 teams nationwide and provides athletes ages 13–19 the opportunity to compete in a structured, team-focused summer season built on strong values and tradition. The program emphasizes baseball fundamentals, leadership, and sportsmanship while offering a competitive environment for dedicated student-athletes.

We are proud to bring this opportunity to our area as the only American Legion team in the region. The ILLIANA 697 PATRIOTS will provide players with quality coaching, meaningful game experience, and a positive team environment following the high school baseball season.

Program Details:

·         Team Name: ILLIANA 697 PATRIOTS

·         Ages: 13–19

·         Tryouts & Registration: April-May 2026

·         Season Begins: Immediately after the high school season ends

·         Season Ends: Early August 2026

·         Home Field: Lansing Baseball Complex, Lansing, Illinois

The summer schedule will consist of approximately 10–16 games (home and away), along with 4–6 local tournaments that will provide additional competitive opportunities. Teams may also have the chance to advance and participate in American Legion postseason and national tournament play.

Our goal is to keep participation very affordable for families. Player costs will be kept low, and we will offer several fundraising opportunities throughout the season to help defray out-of-pocket expenses.

This program is a great opportunity for dedicated players who want to continue developing their skills, compete at a high level, and represent their community with pride. Our coaching staff will emphasize fundamentals, teamwork, discipline, and respect for the game while creating a competitive and rewarding summer experience.
